Art journaling is a means for creative expression and experimentation between the pages of your favorite journal. This Workshop is creating and designing art on the pages, and then about what to write. My preferred art style is collage, with layers of color, doodles, simple sketch work, and texture.

This E-Workshop is a how-to style format with step by step photos of the pages we create together. You'll find a delicious mix of collage style pages, with downloadable page additions a plenty. Just print and play!
I share several art prompts to tempt you and encourage you to develop a stronger sense of personal style. The art prompts in this E-Workshop are something new and not done in my previous E-Workshops! I provide the inspiration (color palettes and theory, patterns, photos) and you use them as inspiration on your pages.

Everyone has preferences when it comes to journals. Personally, I love journals that lay flat. Also like the pages to be big, I look for 6x8 or larger. Hardback and repurposed is especially lovely! Sometimes I leave the cover as is...but most often the covers get embellished so it doesn't matter what the cover looks like.
The pages need to be thick. Text weight (20 lb.) isn't a good choice because we add so much to them. Look for at least 60 lb. weight if you can.
What type of journal should you use? Everyone has their own preferences, but I recommend a journal approx. 5x8 in size (or larger) that lays flat while working in it, and 60 lb. weight plain pages. Not text weight (20 lb) pages. We will be adding lots to the pages. You will also need:
- White Paint Pen or White Sharpie
- Good black writing pens in widths of your choice
- Watercolors (even the children's version at the grocery store will work)
- Acrylic paints in your favorite colors, and brushes
- Glue sticks
- Rubber brayer (optional)
- Colored pencils
- Markers (Copics will be covered in the course)
- Full sheets of Avery sticker paper (office supply store),
- Computer printer (so you print out all the goodies I have been making!)
- Patterned papers
- Tracing paper
- Magazines
- Digital camera or/and photos
- Optional embellishments: rub ons, small sticker letters, ribbons, etc.
